I haven't written for a while - wanted to let some of the rumours and unrest die down after the bit in the Prophet. There are a lot of things I'd like to say, but I think chief among those is that the Prophet piece was right on the nose, and it's a relief not to have to hide myself.
Also, for the record, our drop in the standings has quite a bit to do with the fact that this is the hardest fought professional season in at least ten years, and nothing at all to do with who I share my bed with.

Generally, I think it's part of my responsibility to watch other teams play when Kenmare is off the schedule for the weekend. However, since it's been a month since we've played, I think I've done my due.
I'm taking the weekend off.

It's too long since we've played. I like having one weekend off, but having more than one I always start to get antsy - anxious. I watch the standings and feel that sort of gaping helplessness that comes with knowing that our position is vulnerable but that I can't take the field in order to do anything about it - and generally it isn't that bad, but when you're sitting as the top team in the standings, it might require some potions for nerves! Or at least something good and distracting.
It's bad news when the luck of the draw makes a player jealous of the Falcons. But they've played six, and we've played four, but they still play another before we do. I suppose it could be worse - there are some teams who've only played two. I'd be going absolutely mental with that draw.
And since I've been told I should write about more than just Quidditch here - Thank you to the Kenmare fans who sent along birthday wishes for me last week. They were appreciated. |

In the name of good sportsmanship - Good show, Wimbourne.
The only good news is that they only dropped us two positions, and we don't really have to count in Portree yet because they've only played one game so far. Still, a 540 spread after only two games? Apparently Wimbourne is the team to watch.

Some things are just too ridiculous to believe. It must have been quite the slow news day, if gossip about having a drink in a pub is the best they could do. It was a brilliant game, and we deserved a drink after to celebrate.
Tamsin, by the way, is entirely out of my league.

Well played, Tutshill. It was touch and go there for us in the beginning, and you really gave us a run for it when the Snitch was spotted. Definitely a great way to start the season.

Good show, Montrose and Wigtown. Though I think Wigtown's staying power will be tested this week with two games back to back - it happened to us a few times last season, and it can be brutal.
Game days when I'm not playing are always a little anxious, but at least there were two very good games to listen to.

That was not as horrible as quite a bit more fun than I'd thought I'd have. And so much money raised for such a good cause.

The headache remedies at Bobbin's taste different than those from Slug & Jiggers. Isn't that strange? A bit less like spinach. Seemed to work a bit better, too.

It's hard to begrudge the other team a win when the game was so much more fun than I'd anticipated. While I'm, of course, partial to my own teammates, I can admit now that the practices are over that I had a very good time working with Regan Wood and Wilda Griffiths, too. All in all, I'm a bit sad that the All Star experience leaves off here. Hopefully I'll be a part of that next season.
But now the real season can get underway, and that's exciting in it's own right. It's a bit of a nail-biter, having to wait until the 12th, now.

Good show, Portree. To that, good show to Puddlemere as well. Just having the chance to watch these pre-season games should leave no doubt that this season is shaping up to be very competitive.

It has been subtly insisted that I should get into the habit of writing here. I've never kept a diary, though - how many men have? - and I'm not quite sure what types of things I'm expected to share. Judging from what I've seen, here's my best guess at the sort of information that people reading might have some sort of interest in, though I'm not quite sure why:
Over the holiday I had the chance to meet my brother's girlfriend. She wanted to come in with my brother to see the Bay On Ice and have a skate, and then we went to dinner. Nice girl - studying comparative religion at Cork. On Christmas Eve I went with a friend to listen to the Galway Chamber Choir, and then I went to Midnight Mass. For the New Year, I stayed in and watched the light show, and my resolution was to fly an extra hour at practices this year, and to do my best to avoid broken bones.
